2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 is available in two variants – the 1260 and the higher-spec 1260 S – priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.06 lakh

Italian two-wheeler maker, Ducati has officially launched the 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 in the Indian two-wheeler market. It is available in two variants – the 1260 and the higher-spec 1260 S – priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.06 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. The 1260 is now the brand’s flagship adventure-tourer, which comes with several upgrades and new features. The motorcycle gets more powerful engine and an updated chassis.

The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 is powered by a new 1,262cc, liquid-cooled, L-Twin engine that produces 158bhp at 9,500rpm and 129.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Compared to the previous model, it produces 6bhp more power and 1.5Nm more torque. For suspension duties, the standard 1260 gets Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) while the 1260 S comes gets 48mm fork and a fully-adjustable Sachs monoshock. The updates to the chassis include a 48mm longer swingarm and increased steering rake. These changes resulted into a longer wheelbase of 1,585mm (up by 56mm). In terms of equipments, the Ducati 1260 gets cornering ABS, back-lit handlebar controls, automatic turn signal cancellation, Ducati Wheelie control, cruise control and hands-free connectivity. The bike also offers four riding modes – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro. Adding to it, the bike also gets Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), which holds the bike steady by activating the rear brake. Besides these features, the 1260 S gets colour TFT display for the instrument cluster, full-LED headlights and cornering lights. The Ducati Multistrada 1260 will challenge the likes of BMW R1200 GS and Triumph Tiger 1200.
