2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift and Dzire Hybrid to Return Over 30kmpl

Maruti Swift Hybrid

After launching the Ciaz Hybrid, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will introduce the Hybrid versions of the new-generation Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan in India. Boasted with SVHS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Maruti Suzuki) Hybrid system, new engine technologies and weight reduction measures, the 2017 Maruti Swift and Dzire Hybrid are expected to return fuel efficiency over 30kmpl. This will make them the most fuel efficient cars of the country. Just so you known, the Ciaz, currently, is the most frugal car in India that returns 28kmpl.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS Hybrid, already dispatched to dealerships, will go on sale next month (September, 2015), while the Ertiga SHVS Hybrid might be launched in October, 2015. Both the vehicles will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine, and lithium ion batteries that are boosted with SVHS technology. The same engine might be used for the new-gen Swift and Dzire Hybrid variants, but likely to be tuned for delivering a whooping mileage of 30+kmpl.

Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Suzuki’s SHVS technology is composed of a compact Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that converts kinetic energy of the wheels into electricity via brake energy regeneration system. The generated electricity with an idle start-stop system produces extra torque for the engine, which is supplied whenever it’s needed. This cost-effective technology will surely help the company to price its hybrid products more competitively.

Besides the competitive pricing, the Indian Government’s FAME (Faster Adaption and Manufacturing of Electric and hybrid vehicles) subsidy and NEMMP 2020 (National Electric Mobility Mission Plan), announced in 2015 Budget for promoting green-vehicles, will also favor the next gen Maruti Swift and Dzire hybrid variants. The Indo-Japanese carmaker had confirmed that its upcoming iK-2 (aka the Baleno) and iM-4 mini SUV concepts will also be benefited with the SHVS technology.

Similar to the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Hybrid (SHVS), the 2017 Maruti Swift Hybrid and Dzire Hybrid will be retailed exclusively via the company’s newly- launched NEXA dealerships.

New Maruti Swift Hybrid Price (Expected) – Rs. 5 lakh – Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom)

New Maruti Swift Dzire Hybrid Price (Expected) – Rs. 5.50 lakh – Rs. 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
