The implementation of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) system result into massive shuffle in the prices of cars. While the prices of the majority of Maruti cars have been reduced, prices of the Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS have received a major increase. However, the petrol version of the mid-sized sedan is now cheaper than the previous model. The base model receive a price cut of Rs 7,000, while the diesel 2017 Maruti Ciaz prices have been increased by upto Rs 1.88 lakh.
According to GST, the Government of India has imposed 43% tax on hybrid vehicles in India. Being a mild-hybrid vehicle, the 2017 Maruti Ciaz also comes under this taxation system.
