Hyundai, the South Korean automaker has launched the 2017 Hyundai Elite i20 hatchback in the Indian market at Rs 5.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The i20 facelift receive revise variant-wise feature list and some cosmetic upgrades. Alongside feature upgrade, the premium hatch also gets a new dual-tone variant. It is equipped with 6-airbags making it the only car in its league with front dual, side and curtain airbags.
The current top-end Asta (O) variant remain unchanged, while the base Era trim is available at an attractive pricing with similar set of components. The Magna variant is renamed as Magna Executive. It misses out on several features like headlamp escort function, rear parcel tray and keyless entry. In fact, the new Sportz trim give a miss to reverse parking sensors and camera.
The biggest change in the new i20 is a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link. Adding to it, the display also works as a screen for rear camera. However, the Asta trim misses out on automatic headlamps and diamond cut alloy wheels. Talking about dual-tone top-end Asta variant, the car is available with two color options – Red Passion Body colour with Phantom Black roof and Polar White Body Color with Phantom Black roof. Assing to it, the all-black cabin now gets contrasting orange inserts that adds to its styling. It also gets adjustable rear headrests.

The new Elite i20 is available in four trim levels – Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta – in both petrol and diesel guise. The gasoline version prices fall in the range of Rs 5.36 lakh – Rs 9.09 lakh. On the other hand, the base diesel variant is tagged at Rs 6.66 lakh while the top-end model cost Rs 8.51 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The new i20 facelift comes with the same set of petrol and diesel engines that also powers the pre-facelift model. The gasoline version is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa VTVT unit that churns out a maximum power output of 81.83bhp and a peak torque of 114.7Nm. The Magna Executive variant also gets a 1.4-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is good for 99bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.
On the other hand, the oil burner is a 1.4-litre CRDi unit that is good for 88.73bhp of power and 219.7Nm of torque. While the petrol engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox, the diesel version gets a six-speed unit.

Since the new Hyundai Elite i20 2017 facelift is packed with the existing powertrains, it is as frugal as the current model. While the petrol version is claimed to return a mileage 18.6kmpl, the diesel model deliver 22.6kmpl.

The 2017 i20 is available in six exterior paint jobs – Sleek Silver, Star Dust, Red Passion, Polar White, Marina Blue, Polar White/Phantom Black Roof and Red Passion/Phantom Black Roof.
5. 2017 Hyundai Elite i20 Exterior & Interior
The 2017 i20 only receives variant-wise feature changes, while the cosmetic upgrades are limited to the new top-end dual-tone Asta variant. This variant comes with a dual-tone exterior and interior shade. The exterior gets two dual-tone exterior paint options – Red Passion Body Colour with Phantom Black roof and Polar White Body Color with Phantom Black roof. The cabin comes with an all-black scheme with contrasting Orange inserts to give it a sporty feel. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
