The Italian superbike manufacturer, Ducati has added a new Star White Silk variant to the SuperSport S range. The new 2018 Ducati SuperSport S Star White Silk is available at Rs 13.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Save for the new shade, no changes have been made to the bike. Launched in September, 2017, the superbike range comes in two variants – 2018 Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S – priced at Rs 12.08 lakh – Rs 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively.

With aggressive styling and power engine, the new Ducati SuperSport range will appeal enthusiasts who aspire for riding a sport motorcycle as an every-day commute. First previewed at the 2016 INTERMOT in Cologne, Germany, the SuperSport won the “Most Beautiful Bike of Show” award at EICMA previous year. In India, the 2017 Ducati SuperSport range is available in two variants – SuperSport and SuperSport S. While the former comes with a price tag of Rs 12.08 lakh, the latter one costs Rs 13.39 lakh. Now, the company has added the SuperSport S Star White Silk colour variant to the lineup. This new model is priced at Rs 13.55 lakh. This makes it around Rs 21,000 and Rs 1.15 lakh pricier than the SuperSport S Red colour variant and standard SuperSport respectively. Powering the new Ducati SuperSport is a 937cc, twin-cylinder Testatretta engine matched to a 6-speed gearbox. It’s the same powertrain that has already been used in the Hypermotard 939 and the Multistrada 950. This motor features revised crankcase and cylinder heads that result more linear power delivery. It can produce a maximum power of 110bhp at 9,000rpm, while generating a peak torque of 93Nm at 6,500rpm. The bike also comes with three riding modes – Urban, Touring and Sport.

The SuperSport bike is equipped with multiple electronic rider features such as 8-level Ducati traction, 3-level Bosch ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), etc. For the record, the company claims that the torque curve of the bike is as linear as the regular commuters. 2018 Ducati SuperSport India Design

In terms of design and styling, the Ducati SuperSport shares resemblance with the Panigale. Though, it gets several new styling elements such as split headlamp cluster with LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and an adjustable windscreen and lower footpegs. The superbike also features all-digital instrument cluster with easy to read display. The height adjustable Plexiglas screen offers good airflow deflection. The riding position is comfortable and offers a more upright stance. While the Panigale is based on a monocoque chassis, the SuperSport uses a Steel Trellis platform. 2018 Ducati SuperSport India Suspension & Braking System

While the SuperSport comes equipped with fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi upside-down forks at the front axle and an adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear axle, the SuperSport S features 48mm, fully adjustable Ohlins upside-down forks with adjustable Ohlins monoshock rear suspension unit. Both the variants feature an aluminium single-sided swingarm. Braking duties on the bike are performed by 320mm twin discs front and a single 245mm disc with a 2-piston calliper rear brakes. Ducati offers ABS as standard across the SuperSport lineup. The SuperSport S, additionally, gets the Ducati Quick Shift system.

The overall length, width and height of the new Ducati superbike stand at 2,070mm, 750mm and 1,186mm respectively. The bike sits on a wheelbase of 1,478mm and offers fuel tank capacity of 16-litres. The seat height of 810mm makes it accessible for all height riders.
