Audi India has added the new-generation diesel version to its highly popular sedan A4. Priced at Rs 40.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Audi A4 35 TDI shares its design and features with its petrol counterpart. Power for the 2017 Audi A4 diesel comes from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TDI diesel engine, which is already used for several Volkswagen cars. This motor, with a 7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission, generates 190bhp and 400Nm of torque. The sedan is supported by front wheel drivetrain system.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2017 Audi A4 35 TDI is claimed to be 7% more powerful and fuel efficient. The updated model has shed off up to 120kg weight, thanks to its intelligent material mix. This also aids to the fuel efficiency of the sedan. Now, it delivers a fuel economy of 18.25kmpl (ARAI certified). Sitting on VW’s modular MLB platform, the 2017 Audi A4 diesel can achieve 0-100kmph in 7.7 seconds, while attaining a top speed of 237kmph. The 2017 Audi A4 diesel carries athletic proportions, and features LED headlights with rear dynamic turn indicators. The sedan runs on 17-inch Tornado design alloy wheels and 225/50 R1794Y tyres. Interior, too, hosts a range of advanced technologies including Audi Virtual cockpit (instead of instrument cluster), new Audi MMI display and Audi Smartphone Interface. The car also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifter, natural-language voice control, 180 watt Audi 10-speaker audio system etc.
Audi has also redesigned the five-link front and rear suspension setup of the car. This improves its comfort and dumping performance as well.
