2016 Mitsubishi Outlander facelift unveiled

Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker has finally unveiled that 2016 Outlander facelift at the ongoing 2015 New York Auto Show. The updated SUV gets significant changes to both exteriors and interiors.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander looks significantly improved with a “Dynamic Shield” front fascia. The front features a massive grille that is flanked by slender headlamps. Other changes include new front fenders, revised bumpers and modified LED taillights. The flared wheel arches of the SUV have been fitted to restyled 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the updated Outlander gets new steering wheel, new trim and an upgraded infotainment system. The car also gets improved seats with better upholstery, and the plastic quality, fit & finish also enhanced.

The US-spec model will be offered with two petrol engine options. The entry-spec variant gets the 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that churns out 166bhp of power and 219Nm of torque, while the top-spec variant has 3.0-litre V6 motor that is good for 224bhp of power and 291Nm of torque. The former is paired to a CVT gearbox, the 3.0L motor is coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The company has also made changes to the mechanics of the Outlander. The vehicle now has improved chassis, a redesigned suspension setup and a new electric power steering system. In order to offer better NVH levels, Mitsubishi engineers added a noise-isolating windshield, thicker rear door glass, additional sound deadening material and improved weather stripping.
