We reported earlier that Skoda will launch the Rapid facelift in the Indian market in festive season. According to AutoCarIndia, the Czech automaker will launch the updated sedan in the country on September 30, 2014.
The Skoda Rapid facelift is likely to get changes to both exteriors and interiors. The exteriors of the saloon will get black inserts for the headlamps with projector unit, black surrounds for the front grille and blackened outside rear view mirrors. The model will also sport a black roof and fog lamps. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 16-inch Skoda Comet alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the vehicle is likely to get subtle changes to the steering, central console, instrument panel, seat fabrics, etc.
The major update is given to the mechanical term of the sedan. The updated Rapid sedan will be powered by the new 1.5-litre Turbo diesel engine that also powers the Polo hatchback and upcoming Vento. Adding to it, the sedan will also get the 1.2-litre TSI motor. The 1.2-litre TSI motor, that also powers the Vento and Polo, is capable of developing a top power output of 103bhp. Its 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor produces two states of tune- 90PS/220Nm with a manual transmission and 105PS/250Nm coupled to a DSG gearbox.
