2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Mercedes-Benz seems aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian car market. In a surprising move, Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of 2015 C-Class on November 25, 2014. It was speculated that the German luxury maker will first launch the CLA 4 door Coupe by early next year, after that the new generation C-Class will hit the market.

The new C-Class is based on the company’s new lightweight modular rear-drive MRA (Mercedes Rear-drive Architecture) platform. It features long bonnet, twin-slat chrome grille that accommodates Mercedes’s three-point start, low stance and short front overhangs. The company shares most of its components from previous models including LED head-lamps, shoulder line flows downwards the door handles, tail lamps, rear bumper, boot lid, etc.

The new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class is longer and wider than its predecessor; however, the height has been reduced by 5mm to 1442mm. Its length is increased by 95mm to 4686mm, while the width is up by 40mm to 1810mm. The large wheelbase of 2840mm contributes to an extra legroom for rear occupants. The boot space has been increased by 5mm to 480-litres.

Initially, the petrol version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class will come to India; however, the company will later introduce the oil burners. The C200 petrol variant will get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that produces 208bhp and 350Nm of top torque. The oil burner, C220, will sport a 2.2-litre motor producing 168bhp and 400Nm of top torque. Both engines will be paired to a 7-Speed automatic transmission.
