Volkswagen India has finally launched the new VW Vento facelift in the Indian car market at Rs. 7.44 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai. The updated Vento saloon gets few changes to both inside and out. However, the major change is given to the engine mechanics of the saloon. The new Volkswagen Vento is offered in three trim levels- Trendline, Comfortline and Highline in both petrol and diesel guise. The Highline and Comfortline trims are offered in both manual and automatic versions. The Volkswagen Vento diesel with DSG automatic box is offered in Comfortline and Highline variants, and are priced at Rs. 10.49 and 10.94 lakh respectively.
The Vento facelift looks largely resembles the current model, but the company has made subtle changes to keep things fresh in the market. It is equipped with new bumper, slightly modified grille complemented by sharper headlamps. The tops-spec models get LED lights as optional features. There is lot of chrome treatment on offer that flows across the grille bottom to the fog lamps. The rear profile of the saloon gets reworked bumper and tail lamp assembly.
The interiors of the saloon gets new centre console and multifunctional steering wheel with controls for audio and telephony mounted on it. The instrument panel gets new graphics while the new infotainment system gets all-new colour display. For passengers’ safety and security, the vehicle gets airbags for both driver and co-driver, Anti-Lock Braking System, rear parking camera, engine immobilizer, central locking, etc.
The new VW Vento also gets new diesel engine, which is paired to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. It is powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 104bhp and a peak torque 250Nm. This engine is paired to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox which sends the power to front wheels of the sedan. It comes as a replacement for the current 1.6-litre motor. The petrol version of the sedan is the same 1.6-litre unit producing 103bhp and 153Nm of torque. This engine will be paired to a five-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Its sportier version gets the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 103bhp and 175Nm.
