We reported earlier that Volkswagen dealers have started taking pre-orders for the upcoming 2014 Polo facelift. The vehicle will officially go on sale on 15th of July, and dealers have confirmed that the new model will be offer in three trim levels- Comfortline, Highline and Highline+ in both petrol and diesel guise.

Volkswagen India is reportedly discontinued the base Trendline variant. It has been around 3 month since the dealers have stopped taking bookings for the Trendline variant. This model lacks airbags, and VW aims to offer Polo hatchback with airbags as standard safety feature. Now, all the variants will be offered with driver and its co-occupant airbags as standard. Interestingly, Volkswagen India has also stopped the production of the Polo GT range, and the company is reportedly launching the updated GT models in August, 2014.

The Volkswagen Polo facelift will get a new diesel engine. Under the hood, the new model is powered by the 1.5-litre TDI engine that develops two states of tune- 89bhp and 109bhp. The petrol version will continue to be powered by the same three-cylinder 1.2-litre and the 1.2-litre TSI engine. The turbocharged engine is paired to a seven-speed DSG gearbox.

The new Volkswagen Polo facelift gets changes to both interiors and exteriors. It features a newly designed front bumper which accommodates wide air-dam with a thick chrome strip. The grille now equipped with a single chrome strip instead of three in the current model which is flanked by new headlamps with silver detailing. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to new alloy wheels. Inside, the updated Polo has dual-tone theme on the dashboard, while the centre console gets silver finish.
