Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is all set to launch the new Corolla Altis in the Indian car market. The vehicle will be officially offered in seven variants- 4 diesel and 3 petrol. The four diesel versions are- J, JS, G and GL, while the petrol versions are- V, VL MT and VL AT.
The new Corolla Altis will get the same powertrains. While the oil burner will get the same 1.4-litre D-4D engine that produces 87bhp and 215Nm of torque, the petrol model will be powered by the 1.8-litre VVT-I petrol engine that is capable of developing a top power output of 138bhp and a peak torque of 173Nm. Both engines are paired with six-speed manual transmission gearbox which sends the power to front wheel. However, the petrol model also gets a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the new Corolla Altis is expected to be launched by the end of this month. All variants are equipped with touch-screen infotainment system which is compatible with Bluetooth, USB and AUX-in. The top spec models will be offered with leather covered seats, reverse parking camera and push/start button. Moreover, this model also gets automatic headlamps with integrated LEDs. For passengers’ safety and security, the new Toyota Corolla Altis gets dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and brake assist, engine immobilizer, child safety lock, central locking and others. The flared wheel-arches of the top-spec models have been fitted with alloy wheels.
