The year 2019 will witness the launch 20 new SUVs.

SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) are darlings among Indian buyers. Considering their strong sales, car manufacturers will expand their SUV lineup or foray into the SUV space with all-new models this year. The year 2019 will witness the launch several new SUVs, to be more precise 20 new models. The first product to roll out in this segment will be the Nissan Kicks that’s slated to go on sale on 22nd January, followed by the Tata Harrier.

The entry-level SUVs such as XUV300 from Mahindra and QXi (Carlino concept-based) from Hyundai will follow the suite. While the former is reported to hit showrooms next month, the latter come by mid, 2019 (probably in April). Hyundai will also introduce its first electric vehicle in India – the Hyundai Kona SUV – by the end of this year.

The two new car manufacturers – Kia Motors and MG Motor – will also enter our market with SP concept-based SUV and Hector SUV respectively. The Kia SP Concept SUV that will be positioned against the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier will hit roads in August, 2019. The MG Hector, on the other hand, is likely to see a release in June, 2019.

Tata’s all-new mini SUV – codenamed Hornbill – is also reported to be rolled out by the end of 2019. The new-generation Renault Duster, Range Rover Evoque and Skoda Karoq might also make their way this year. The American SUV maker, Jeep might also bring in the new Renegade in the country.

In the luxury SUV space, BMW will introduce the all-new X7, X4 and the new-generation X5. The new Audi Q3 and Q8 will also be among the SUVs that are scheduled for this year. Audi’s smallest SUV – Q2 – might also join the bandwagon. Mercedes Benz might launch the GLB that will sit between the GLA and GLC.
