2 Popular Cars To Receive Facelift Soon; Baleno, Creta

Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are working on wide range of new cars for the Indian market. Not just new models, the brands are also focusing on introducing electric as well as CNG powered models in our market. Maruti Suzuki will also give a major upgrade to its popular Baleno hatchback, while Hyundai will introduce the facelifted Creta in our market in 2022.

Scheduled to be launched in early 2022, the new Maruti Baleno hatchback has already been spotted testing couple of times. In fact, interior images of the car have also been leaked on the Internet. The new model will come with heavily updated interior with all-new dashboard dominated by a new floating touchscreen infotainment system. The hatchback is most likely to offer connected car technology. The spy images also shows a new multi-functional flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls. It will also receive cruise control and a semi-digital instrument console.

The design of the car will also receive significant update. The spy images suggest that the hatchback could get a prominent grille and front bumper, new headlamp setup with LED DRLs and new LED tail-lamps along with revised rear bumper. The vehicle will also receive new alloy wheels.

The 2022 Maruti Baleno is most likely to retain the 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol engine and 1.2L dual-jet petrol with SHVS mild hybrid system. While the former is good for 83bhp and 110Nm, the latter offers 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

Hyundai will introduce the updated Creta SUV in Indonesia in November 2021. The same model will arrive in our market in 2022. In fact, the Creta facelift has already been spotted in India. The teaser images confirm that the new model will have next-gen Tucson inspired front fascia, featuring new parametric grille with Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language.

The new Creta will have more rectangular shaped headlamp unit placed slightly lower than before. In fact, the LED DRLs shaped are similar to the new Tucson. It is expected to get revised bumpers, new faux skid plate and fog lamp assembly, new alloys and split tail-lights.

Interiors of the new Creta are likely to remain the same. However, the SUV could get new leather upholstery. It is expected that the SUV could get ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), HUD (head-up display), and a 360 degree camera. The India-spec model is most likely to retain the existing engine line-up that includes a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel, a 113bhp, 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 138bhp, 1.4L turbocharged petrol.
