Tata Motors has further expanded its flagship Safari SUV model lineup with two new variants – XMS and XMAS. The new Tata Safari variants have been priced at Rs 17.96 lakh and Rs 19.26 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). Compared to the XM and XMA variants, the new models are around Rs 1 – Rs 1.16 lakh more expensive. Both XMS and XMAS receive a panoramic sunroof, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and other features from the top-end versions.

Features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, drive modes (Eco, City and Sport), four speakers and four tweeters, reverse parking camera, a height adjustable driver seat, rain sensing wipers, electrically foldable ORVMs and auto headlamps are also on offer. No changes have been made to their design and engine mechanism. The new Tata Safari variants use the same 2.0L diesel engine that’s good enough for 168bhp and 350Nm. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Recently, the Tata Safari was caught testing with heavy camouflage that’s likely to be its updated version. If reports are to be believed, the carmaker might give a mid-life update the SUV in early 2023. The new Safari facelift is likely to come with features such as a 360 degree camera and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Its touchscreen infotainment unit might get bigger and support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

A few cosmetic changes are likely to be made. The new 2023 Tata Safari facelift might feature a revised front grille with silver finish holes, sharper LED DRLs and more circular headlamps. The carmaker might offer some new exterior colour schemes. At present, the SUV model lineup is available in 8 paint options – Tropical Mist, White Gold, Royale Blue, Orcus White, Black Gold, Daytona Grey, Grassland Beige and Oberon Black.
