Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the new-gen Scorpio N SUV in the country on June 27, 2022. Before the end of this week, two brand new SUVs will be launched or unveiled in India. While Maruti Suzuki will introduce the new Brezza compact SUV on June 30, 2022, Toyota will unveil the much-awaited Urban Cruiser Hyryder (New Toyota Hyryder) mid-sized SUV on June 1, 2022.
1. New Maruti Brezza
Interested buyers can pre-book the new Maruti Brezza online or at authorised Arena dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The company has already released multiple teasers, revealing key features and top changes. The new model will come in 4 trim levels – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi- with 3 automatic and 4 manual variants. It will come with a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro interface and wireless connectivity. The SUV will also get Suzuki Connect with over 40 connected features.
In terms of features, the SUV will offer Head-Up-Display or HUD, cooled glove box, cruise control, automatic AC, 6 airbags, a 360 degree camera, hill hold assist, electronic stability program with roll over mitigation & rear parking camera. The high-end variant will come with dual LED projector headlamps with floating DRLs, auto headlamps with follow-me-home & lead-me-to-vehicle feature, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED fog lamps.
The new Brezza will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15C Dualjet petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 103PS and 137Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a new 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and a 5-speed manual unit. The company will also introduce the CNG version of the SUV, which is likely to arrive before the end of this year.
2. Toyota Hyryder
The much-awaited Toyota mid-sized SUV, codenamed D22 will make its global debut on July 1, 2022. Called the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the new SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. It will come with new mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrains. It is the brand-new model developed under the Suzuki and Toyota global partnership. The SUV is developed by Suzuki with the help of Toyota’s expertise.
The new Hyryder production will be commenced in August at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka. The new model will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Vitara in overseas markets and the Maruti Brezza. The company has released multiple teasers revealing the exterior and interior highlights. The SUV will come with high-end features like cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera, a digital instrument console, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, Heads-Up Display, wireless phone charging, automatic AC along with rear AC vents and many more. For safety and security, the SUV could offer 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, traction control and others.
It will be offered with two engine options – a 103PS, 1.5L K15C petrol with a mild hybrid system and a 116PS, 1.5-litre petrol with strong hybrid system. The new SUVs will come with the FWD (front-wheel-drive) and AWD (all-wheel-drive) system options. Reports suggest that the FWD and self charging system will be exclusively offered with the strong hybrid powertrain. There will be two gearboxes on offer a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The strong hybrid model will have e-CVT gearbox as we have seen in the newly-launched Honda City Hybrid.
