Hyundai has recently introduced the new Ioniq 5 electric crossover in the country. Moreover, the company has debuted the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in the 2023 Alcazar 3-row SUV. Hyundai also aims to introduce multiple new products including updated versions of its existing line-up. This year, Hyundai will launch two brand new cars in the market in 2023.
Next-gen Hyundai Verna
Hyundai is all set to launch the new-gen Verna sedan in the country on January 21, 2023. Interested buyers can book the new mid-sized sedan online or at authorised dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will be offered with two petrol engines – a 113bhp, 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated and a 160bhp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
In terms of proportions, the new Verna is 4535mm long, 1765mm wide and 1475mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2670mm. The new model is longer and wider than the outgoing model. In fact, the wheelbase has been increased by 70mm. The sedan has a segment-largest boot space of 528-litrs. The sedan gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, digital driver’s display, Bose sound system, ventilated & heated front seats, automatic AC and others. The sedan will also receive ADAS tech with features like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance system and others.
Hyundai Ai3 Micro SUV
Hyundai is preparing a new micro SUV, internally codenamed Ai3, for the developing nations. The new model is reportedly to be launched in our market during the festive season, before Diwali. It will rival the likes of the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. The new model will be based on the brand’s K1 platfrm, which also underpins the Casper micro SUV and the Grand i10 Nios. The new Hyundai Ai3 small SUV will share the design cues from the Venue compact SUV. It is likely to measure around 3.7-3.8 meters in length and will have a longer wheelbase compared to the regular model.
The new model is likely to share the features with the new Grand i10 Nios. In fact, the small SUV will also come with a single pane sunroof. It is expected to be powered by a 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The company could also offer a CNG version of the micro SUV. Both manual and AMT gearbox options will be on offer.
