2 New Car Launches Next Week – Expected Prices, Details

As the lockdown restrictions are curbing across the nation, car manufacturers are getting ready to launch their pending models. In the third week of June 2021 (14th-19th), we will witness two new important launches in the premium 7-seater SUV and luxury sedan segments. Here are the expected prices, specs and details of the upcoming two new products.

2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class – 17th June

Mercedes-Benz flagship sedan – S-Class – is ready to enter into its new generation on coming 17th June in India. Similar to the current model, the new one will be locally assemble but initially it could be fully imported. Its prices are estimated to start from Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom). Compared to the previous generation, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is 34mm longer, 51mm wider and 12mm taller. The sedan will be offered with two engine options – 3.0L, 6-cylinder in-line petrol and diesel with the EQ Boost 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The S450, S500 and S580 twin-turbo V8 make a top power of 362bhp with 500Nn, 429bhp with 520Nm and 469bhp respectively. The new diesel S350d variant will come with the 3.0L motor that’s good for 282bhp and 600Nm. A 9-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the model lineup.

Prices of the new Hyundai Alcazar SUV are scheduled to be announced on 18th June. Pre-bookings have already been started at a token sum of Rs 25,000. The SUV will come with the 2.0L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines delivering power worth 159PS with 191Nm and 115PS with 250Nm respectively. Both motors can be had with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The Alcazar model lineup will be spread across 6 trims (Prestige, Prestige (O), Platinum, Platinum (O), Signature and Signature (O). It can be had with either 6-seater layout or 7-seats configuration.

There will be 6 colour options that will vary variant-wise. The Signature variants will be exclusively offered in dual-tone shades. Once launched, it will lock horns against the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700. Hyundai’s new three-row SUV is estimated to cost between Rs 13 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
