Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch two all-new models in coming months – Fronx compact crossover and Jimny 5-door lifestyle SUV. While the former will go on sale in April, the latter is likely to hit roads in last weeks of May 2023.
Both SUVs have arrived at Nexa dealerships ahead of their market launch. One must note that the Maruti Jimny 5-door SUV will be put up on display in a phased manner.
Maruti Fronx
The compact crossover has gathered over 10,000 bookings so far. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 8 lakh and it will go up against the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Based on the Baleno hatchback, the Maruti Fronx will be made available with two petrol engines – 1.2L Dualjet and 1.0L turbo. The Dualjet motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. It delivers a claimed power of 90PS and 113Nm of torque. The turbo petrol unit gets a 5-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. It pushes out a maximum power of 100PS and 148Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki has packed the Fronx with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys audio system, cruise control, HUD, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, 6 airbags, 360 degree camera, ESP, ABS with EBD and hill hold assist. Maruti Jimny 5-Door
Production of the Jimny is likely to start next month (i.e. April 2023). The carmaker has received over 18,000 bookings for the SUV and its top-end Alpha variant is high-in-demand. Features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, Arkamys sound system, climate control, cruise control, keyless start, fog lamps, LED headlamps with washers, auto headlamps, body coloured door handles and alloy wheels are reserved for the Alpha trim. For power, the new Maruti Jimny 5-door SUV uses a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with mild hybrid tech. It returns a claimed power of 105bhp and 134Nm of torque.
