10 Upcoming SUVs In 2023 – Jimny To Harrier Facelift

We have witnessed a wide range of new SUVs launched in our market in the year 2022. Auto manufacturers are readying their new SUVs for the Indian market. These SUVs will be launched in the next couple of years. We have a compiled a list of new SUVs to be launched in our market in the year 2023 –

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door rear

Maruti Suzuki will launch two brand new SUVs in the Indian market in 2023. The company will present the new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB and a 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. While the YTB is expected to be launched by April 2023, the Jimny will go on sale by mid-2023. Based on the HEARTECT platform, the Baleno Cross or YTB will be powered by a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine with manual and AMT unit. On the other hand, the Jimny will be powered by a 102bhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Similar to the Grand Vitara & Hyryder, Toyota will also launch a new SUV Coupe based on the upcoming Baleno Cross in 2023. The new SUV Coupe is likely to share styling cues from Yaris Cross on sale in global markets. The new model will have a raked window line with a shorter rear quarter glass, angular roof-mounted spoiler and a longer boot lid compared to Maruti’s YTB SUV Coupe. It will be powered by Suzuki’s 1.0L 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbo petrol engine with mild hybrid tech. The SUV Coupe could also get a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and AMT unit.

Mahindra XUV400 charging

Mahindra will launch two new SUVs – the Thar 5-door and the XUV400 electric in 2023. The XUV400 prices will be revealed in January 2023 and deliveries are expected to commence in the end of January or February. It is fitted with a front-axle-mounted electric motor that draws power from a 39.4kWh battery pack. It is claimed to offer 150bhp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 8.3 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 150kmph. It will have a certified range of 456km on a single charge. The Thar 5-door is expected to be launched by mid-2023. It will ride on a longer wheelbase and will offer more space in the second-row and bigger boot space. The SUV will retain the 2.0L NA petrol and a 2.2L turbo-diesel with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Tata Motors will launch the facelifted version of the Harrier and the Safari SUVs in 2023. Both models are likely to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The new models will receive design changes and upgraded interior. The new Harrier & Safari facelifts will come equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane assist and others. The SUVs could also get a bigger touchscreen infotainment system.

Hyundai Ai3 Front Spied

Hyundai will launch two new SUVs – the Ai3 subcompact SUV and the Creta facelift in 2023. Both models are likely to make global debut at Auto Expo 2023. Likely to be launched by mid-2023, the new Hyundai Ai3 subcompact SUV will rival the Tata Punch and the upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross. To be based on the K1 platform, the new model will be offered with a 1.2L petrol engine with manual and AMT unit. The Creta facelift is expected to be launched in the first half of 2023. It will receive design changes and upgraded interior along with ADAS tech.

Kia India will launch the new Seltos facelift in 2023. The new model will receive design changes and feature-loaded cabin along with a panoramic sunroof. It will also receive ADAS tech, which will also be offered on the Creta facelift. The new model is also expected to receive a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine and a CNG fuel option.

Honda Compact SUV Rendered

Honda has already confirmed that it will launch a new compact SUV in the country in 2023. The new model will be based on the new City platform and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder. The new model is expected to receive a 1.5L petrol engine with e:HEV strong hybrid tech.
