The 2016 Maruti Alto 800 new model was launched in India in May 2016 at a starting price of Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The facelifted Maruti Alto 800 received some cosmetic and features upgrades along with two new colours. The hatchback’s  new model continues to feature the old 796cc, 47bhp petrol and CNG powered engines paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Though, the gasoline motor has been tuned for achieving high thermal efficiency with low friction losses. As a result, the 2016 Alto 800 is claimed to be 9% more fuel efficient than the previous model.

Transmission on offer is a 5-speed manual gearbox. Similar to the regular petrol model, the hatchback’s CNG powered engine delivers 47bhp of power and 69Nm of torque. This powertrain is now claimed to be 10% more fuel efficient than before. The new Alto 800 CNG delivers an impressive mileage of 33.44km/kg. The 2016 Maruti Alto 800 new model also gets new-generation 6.5-inch brake booster for better braking performance.

The Maruti Alto 800 new model features an aero-edge design that not only enhances its aerodynamic performance, but also makes it look sportier than before. The front fascia of the car looks refreshing with a new grille, re-designed headlamps, new bumper and re-positioned Suzuki logo. While the higher trims are equipped with round-shaped fog lamps, the lower trims are devoid of them.

Save for the newly-designed wheels, the side profile of the car remains unchanged. The ORVMs are now standard across all variants. The car’s rear looks quite simple, though it gets a sportier bumper and different tail-lights. The new Maruti Alto 2016 new model is 35mm longer than the old model, thanks to its revised front bumper. The 2016 Maruti Alto 800 facelift’s cabin gets new dark grey interior theme, new seat upholstery and door trims, and stylish rear seats with integrated headrest. Features like front power windows and central locking come as standard equipment. While, the top-end VXi trim gets a child-safety lock, remote keyless entry and additional utility space at the back. Similar to the old model, the new Maruti Alto 800 2016 comes with optional front airbag.
