Volvo, the Swedish luxury carmaker has launched its first hybrid vehicle - the XC90 T8 SUV - in the Indian car market. Available only in the top-spec Excellence trim, the new XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid is priced at Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid Price - It is the country's first petrol-electric hybrid SUV, equipped with several high-end features. The vehicle comes with the highest level of luxury and craftsmanship in the Volvo range. Priced at Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), the new XC90 T8 hybrid is available only in the high-end Excellence grade.
Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid Engine Specs - The XC90 is powered by a 320bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is coupled to an 87bhp electric motor, which sends the power to the rear wheels. The combined power output is 407bhp. The SUV also gets a 25bhp starter motor between the petrol engine and gearbox, which ensures smooth transition between driving modes. The company claims that the vehicle comes with an all-electric range of 40km. The SUV comes with a four-seater layout, and do not have a direct rival in the market.
Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid Features - The feature list include two individual reclining rear seats with a massage and ventilation function, retractable touchsreen for each rear occupants, folding tables, a refrigerator with bottle and glass holders, handmade crystal glasses, 20-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, 21-inch alloy wheels, etc.
Safety Features- The XC90 Hybrid is the first car in India equipped with Radar safety. This system offers collision warning with full auto-braking at high speeds, adaptive cruise control with stop-go function, and pedestrain, cyclist and large animal detection.
Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid Competition - It is the first plug-in hybrid SUV in India and do not have direct competition in the market. The standard siblings of the SUV compete against the likes of the Mercedes GLS, Audi Q7 and the BMW X5.
Limited Availability - The SUV will be offered in limited numbers globally including India. The XC90 T8 Hybrid comes as a fully imported unit in the country. Besides the BMW i8, the XC90 is the second plug-in hybrid in the country. Volvo is also offering two charging stations for the customers buying T8 Plug-in Hybrid, as there is no infrastructure for charging. The charging points will be installed by Volvo experts.
