The TVS Akula 310 Concept was the major attraction at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The sportbike concept features all-carbon body that comes with lot of curves and sharp intake. Expected to be priced aggressively, the Akula 310 based motorcycle will take on 250cc - 300cc motorcycles on sale currently.
Based On the BMW G310R Platform - The TVS Akula 310 Racing concept is based on the BMW G310R naked sportsbike, which has been co-developed by BMW and TVS. Despite big fairing, the bike maintains sleekness and raw carbon fibre makes it look special.
Likely To Be Sold Under Apache Brand - In order to capitalize on the growing popularity of the Apache series, TVS Motor Company could rename TVS Akula 310 to Apache RTR 300. Though some reports also claim the company might retain the Akula nameplate.
Production Version - The TVS Akula 310's production model would be based on the concept, but it is likely to have slightly different styling to make the bike road legal. Interestingly, TVS officials said that 60 per cent of the concept would be present on the final motorcycle.
Engine - The TVS Akula 310 is propelled by the same 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine that also power the BMW G310R. Coupled with a 6-speed transmission, this engine is capable of producing 34bhp of power at 9,500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.
Track Oriented Machine - At the Auto Expo, TVS claimed that the Akula concept will turn into a perfect sportsbike for track racing. The bike will rival against the likes of the Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC390.
Designed by TVS Racing - The new performance bike has been designed with inputs from TVS factory race drivers. The Racing Concept has been developed to give a tribute to TVS Racing's 33 years of dominant race heritage.
Launching Sooner than expected- This fully faired motorcycle will be launched in the country in 2016-17 fiscal. The bike is expected to be launched around Diwali, 2016.
