Renault, the French automaker has unveiled the new Renault Kwid Outsider Concept at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show. It was speculated that the company will launch the new Kwid hatch in Brazil, instead Renault opted for the stylish Kwid Outsider concept for the Show.
The Renault Kwid Outsider Concept features the same crossover styling with added features including tougher black plastic cladding, new & bigger wheels and silver skid plates. Other design highlights include roof rails and green accents.
The Outsider concept looks largely identical to the Renault Kwid Climber concept, which was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. As a reminder, the French automaker is planning to launch the new Kwid Climber and Racer in the Indian car market in near future.
Inside the cabin, the Brazilian-spec model looks different than the India-spec Kwid. It is equipped with slightly revised center console while the window control buttons are positioned under the 7-inch MEDIANAV display. The hatchback also gets a door lock and rear defogger button placed beside the window controls.
Compared to the Brazilian model, the India-spec Kwid’s glovebox located on the upper section of the dashboard. However, the Outsider features a passenger airbag on the upper section. It also gets new instrument cluster, featuring an analogue speedometer and tachometer and a digital multi-info display. The outside rear view mirrors now get interior toggle adjustments, which are missing in the India-spec model.
Powering the Renault Kwid Outsider is a new 1.0-litre SCe (Smart Control Efficiency) engine that churns out a maximum power output of 67bhp and a peak torque of 91Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
