Honda, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the new Honda Civic Si Prototype at the 2016 LA Auto Show. Scheduled to be launched in the US market next year, the new model will be offered in both coupe and sedan versions. The vehicle unveiled is basically a near production 2017 Civic Si.
The company has only unveiled the Civic Si Prototype in coupe body style, but the production model will be offered in sedan as well. The new model is painted in Rallye Red Pearl body and features a full factory performance (HFP) aero kit.
Honda's Factory Performance aero kit comprises of front and rear splitters and rear spoiler, 19-inch 235/35Y high performance tires shod with HFP 19 x 8J 10-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels and a center-mounted polygonal exhaust finisher.
The new Civic Si will be powered by a high-performance version of the 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 174bhp at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 220Nm. It will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
Inside the cabin, the new Honda Civic Si gets exclusive sport seats with contrasting stitches in red, aluminum sport pedals, red stitching on the doors and steering wheels. Other features include Si logos, leather shift boot with aluminum shift knob, dry metal carbon instrument panel trim and red illumination in the instrument panel's TFT meter and the audio system.
The Si variant also comes equipped with several performance upgrades including new active damper system, limited-slip differential, active steering system and high-performance tires.
