Mercedes-Benz India is on a launching spree of late with the latest one being the new GLS 400 4MATIC petrol that was rolled out in August. Now, the German carmaker has introduced its 9th ‘Made-in-India’ product – Mercedes GLC. Just so you know, Mercedes GLC, that has globally replaced as the GLK, was launched in its CBU avatar in June, 2016. Design - The Mercedes-Benz GLC has taken its inspiration from several of its siblings including the C-Class, AMG GT and S-Class. Based on the company's latest design language, the GLC features familiar three-dimensional radiator grille with two slats & centrally-positioned brand's low, and LED headlamps at the front. Moving towards the side profile, the car has coupe-like greenhouse that might remind you of the C-Class. With the 4.6-inch larger wheelbase, the GLC gives an impression of quite a long vehicle. Other design elements on sides include sloping roof line, matte black cladding in the wings and 20-inches alloy wheels. The rear profile is characterized by the broad and muscular shoulders and AMG-GT inspired split LED tail-lamps.
Mercedes GLC India Specifications - The India-spec GLC is being made available with two powertrain options - a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.1-litre diesel - both paired to a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. While the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine produces 246bhp and 370Nm, the 2.1-litre diesel unit offers 170bhp and 400Nm. The diesel version of the car is the entry-level variant.
Mercedes GLC Interior - The GLC's interior too looks a lot more sophisticated than the GLK thanks to the high quality materials such as nappa leather or open-pore wood trim. The vehicle gets C-class inspired dashboard and the center console with flowing lines and one-piece large panel. With a longer wheelbase, the GLC also offers a more spacious cabin to its occupants. As a matter of fact, it offers 2.2-inches extra space to the second-row passengers. It has a boot capacity of 550-liters that can be expanded up to 1,600-liters. Feature-wise, the Mercedes GLC is quite loaded high-end comfort and safety equipment. Though, the Made-in-India GLC misses out on some features such as seat adjustment memory option, electric tailgate, two zone climate control instead of three zone unit, alloy wheels with different design and an optional navigation.
Dimensions & Colours - The Mercedes GLC is based on the C-Class platform, its wheelbase however is about 33mm longer. The new Mercedes-Benz SUV measures 4656mm in length, 1644 in height, 2096mm in width. It wheelbase stands at 2874mm. comes in 5 colors. The GLC is available in 5 colour options - Obsidian Black, Citrine Brown, Diamond White, Iridium Silver and Hyacinth Red Metallic.
Mercedes GLC India Launch Prices – The Mercedes GLC is available in three variants - 220d Style, 220Sport and 300 Sport – which are priced at Rs 47.90 lakh, Rs 51.50 and Rs 51.90 lakh respectively. Aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
