DC Design, founded by Dilip Chhabria in 1993, is the renowned automotive accessory manufacturing brand in India. With over 600 portfolios of unique cars/vehicles, the company has set a benchmark in design. Besides modifying several vehicles, DC also manufactures Avanti – the country’s first indigenously developed sports car.
DC Design’s Mahindra Thar has been referred as an “urban convertible off-roader” by the company. Re-skinned with round and fibre glass bodywork, the modified model looks quite sporty. Its futuristic design certainly makes heads turn around.
Up front, the DC Thar gets a new three slat grille and skewed headlamps with chrome bezels. Towards the sides, there are high set door handles, chrome licked door hinges and prominent wheel arches.
At the rear, the car features a spare wheel, chromed bumper and small tail lamps stick out from the corners.
DC Design has completely transformed the interior of the Thar. With full black upholstery and trim, it looks as sporty as its exterior. What further enhances its comfort and convenience levels are LCD entertainment system, an air-conditioning system and sporty metal pedals.
With a targa-style removable roof, the modified Thar justifies its ‘convertible’ label. One can stowed up the roof in the back, and put it on when required.
The entire modification will cost you Rs 10 lakh. The price break up includes Rs 6 lakh for the body kit, Rs 2 lakh for the interior and next Rs 2 lakh for sporty wheels and air-conditioning. The asking waiting period for the modification is 2 months.
Known for its rugged look and off-road capabilities, the Mahindra Thar has prowled Indian roads ever since its launch in 2010. This retro off-roader comes with a 2.6-litre MDI engine that’s good for 63bhp and 182.5Nm.
