The American automaker, Ford has revealed the updated 2018 model year of its iconic pony car – Mustang. The 2018 Ford Mustang receives significant design updates with a range of advanced connectivity and safety features. Though, the major change comes in the form of new engine lineup and gearbox.
Exterior - With aerodynamic effects, Ford has revived the front and rear design of the new Mustang. The pony car now gets a lower and sleeker hood and new LED headlights along with three new exterior paint options.
Cabin - Interior of the 2018 Ford Mustang is brimming with lots of comfort and connectivity features. A 12-inch wide digital instrument cluster replaces the dials of the current models. The updated model comes with FordPass smartphone app that allows user to lock, unlock, start and find the car via their phone.
Features - Furthermore, the Mustang Performance Package is now benefited with Ford’s MagneRide adaptive dampers. One can improve its exhaust note by adding the active valve exhaust option. The 2018 Ford Mustang also comes equipped with pedestrian detection and pre-collision systems. The car’s computer system has a memory function that enables driver save the preferred steering and suspension settings.
Engine - The 2018 Ford Mustang has ditched the entry-level V6 engine in a favour of new powertrains – a torquier version of the 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost and a new 5.0-litre V8. The latter one has also been tweaked for generating extra power at high revs.
Performance - For handling the increased torque and achieve high fuel efficiency, Ford has tuned the 6-speed manual gearbox. Both the powertrain will also be available with a new 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. This new unit offers different settings for three drive modes, and is claimed to improve shift times.
Handling – Ford claims that the ride quality of the 2018 Ford Mustang is much improved than before, thanks its upgraded shock absorbers. Features like a new cross-axis joint and tuned stabiliser bars further enhance its handling.
