The iconic BMW 8 Series will make a comeback in the second-generation look in 2018. The German carmaker recently unveiled the 2018 BMW 8 Series coupe concept at the Villa D’Este. The concept avatar looks close to the production ready version. Here we bring a few interesting facts about this new luxurious sports car –
Surely a Stunner – Carrying the 90’s unique styling with a mix of contemporary design elements, the 2018 BMW 8 Series looks absolutely stunning. BMW claims that it represents the brand’s next-generation design philosophy.
Aggressive Front - Fascia of the sports car features an aggressive kidney grille, sleek twin laser headlights, large air intakes and long low lung front-end, similar to the GT car. Some of the design bits are carried over from the i8, especially the nose section.
Sporty Side Design – While the front section of the car has an aggressive appeal, the side profile looks quite sporty. The 2018 BMW 8 Series has flowing roof lines and two character lines with along with the pronounced wheel arches shod with large 21-inch lightweight multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Sculpted Rear – The carbon-fibre diffuser in the lower section with large angular exhaust pipes and slim LED taillights accentuate its rear design.
Premium Paint Quality – The 2018 BMW 8 Series receives an exclusively Barcelona Grey Liquid finish, which is specially developed of the car.
Luxurious Cabin – The cabin of the new BMW 8 Series is a sheer German beauty with futuristic design. The centre console has a mix of carbon fibre and aluminium with gloss black trim. The instrument cluster houses a TFT display with all-new graphics and user interface.
Top-notch Upholstery – Besides the feature-loaded cabin, the new 8 Series gets a premium combination of dark leather and aluminium. The use of merino leather in dark brown and fjord white add more to its overall feel and appeal.
Power Source - Though BMW hasn’t yet revealed the technical details of the car, it is likely to share engines with the 7 Series. Currently, the BMW 7 Series comes in two powertrain options – a 3.0-litre inline-6 and a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. The latter one is the most powerful motor in BMW’s M Sport division.
Launch Details – The all-new BMW 8 Series2018 made its world debut in its concept avatar in May 2017. The production version of the luxury sports car will have its global premiere sometime next year. Initially, the coupe version of the car will be introduced in the markets. Reports suggest that the 2018 BMW 8 Series convertible could be rolled out a year after the coupe 8 Series.
Challenges – The 2018 BMW 8 Series will face challenge from cars like Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG coupe, Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB11.
