Tata Safari Strome Discontinued In India
Tata Safari, the mid-size SUV from the home-grown carmaker, has been in the Indian market from last 21 years. According to a fresh media report, the company has stopped the production of the Safari Strome as a result of poor sales and the upcoming new emission norms. The current generation of the Tata Safari Strome won’t meet new safety norms and the BS6 emission standards that will be enforced from 1st April, 2020. And upgrading the existing model doesn’t justify the investment that will be required.
Tata dealers are currently in the process of clearing the remaining stock and are not taking new bookings for the vehicle. In fact, the test drives of the SUV have been stopped at select dealerships in Delhi. All hints that the Tat Safari Strome will soon be discontinued in India. In October 2018, the carmaker introduced the Safari Storme with bigger 17-inch alloy wheels that were reserved for the top-spec VX trim. The SUV comes with a 2.2L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that’s tuned for generating two different power outputs – 148bhp with 320Nm and 154bhp with 400Nm. Transmissions on offer are a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual.
