Tata Nexon – India’s 1st Car to Score 5 Star Global NCAP Rating
The Tata Nexon has scored 16.06 out 17 points which has never been achieved by any other made-in-India car.
Tata Nexon has made a history by becoming India’s first car to score a 5 star rating in the Global NCAP Crash Test. Yes you read that right, Tata Nexon that had achieved a respectable 4 in the last crash test held in August 2018 has now bettered its record. In the recently conducted crash test by Global NCAP under #SaferCarsForIndia campaign, the Nexon has scored 16.06 out 17 points which has never been achieved by any other made-in-India car. In the child occupant safety, however, it retained its 3 star rating by achieving 25 points out of 49.
The car that was put on test had 2 airbags, a 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) + electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Just so you know, all these features are standard across the Nexon Range. Read – Tata Nexon JTP Under Development

How different is this model than the one tested in August 2018?

So how did it score 5 stars instead of 4 like before?
As a rule a car needs to also pass the side impact crash test in a bid to score a total 5 in the test, and earlier the car was only tested for frontal impact. Is the Nexon’s bodyshell/platform stable?
Of course, the Nexon’s bodyshell was rated as stable and it can in fact withstand further loadings. The test also found that the protection offered to the driver and front passenger’s chest was adequate, driver & passenger’s knee also showed good protection. This clearly shows that how well built the Tata Nexon is when it comes to the overall safety.
