Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has just added BMW i8 Hybrid to his fleet of sports cars. The car was delivered to his residence by BMW Navneet Motors’ director Sharad Kachalia. The King Khan already owns several other super luxury cars including Rolls Royce Phantom and Bentley Continental GT. Other cars owned by SRK are BMW 7 Series, BMW 6 Series, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Audi A6 and a few others.
Soon after the delivery of the BMW i8, Shah Rukh Khan took the car out for a spin around Bandra. For people not in the know, BMW i8 is priced at Rs 2.29 crore (ex-showroom). The first ever plug-in-hybrid sports car from BMW, the i8 is the world’s best-selling hybrid sports car.

Powering the BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid system that features a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower petrol mill with an electric motor. While the 1.5-litre powertrain of the vehicle churns out 228bhp, the electric motor additionally produces 129bhp. The combined power output is massive 357bhp. While the gasoline engine delivers the power to the rear wheels of the car, the electric drive transmits this to the front wheels. The BMW i8 offers an all-electric range of up to 35KMs

The German carmaker claims that the BMW i8 takes only 4.4 seconds to spring from zero to 100kmph. It has an electronically-limited top-speed of 250kmph. Besides the powertrain, what helps in vehicle’s performance is its carborn fibre built. Despite having large battery pack, the BMW i8 Hybrid sports car weighs only 1490kg.
BMW i8 is the first car launched under BMW’s sub-brand i. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar and Shilpa Shetty are other celebrities that own BMW i8.
