Hyundai Nexo FCEV SUV Showcased At Auto Expo 2020
Hyundai Nexo, the fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) from the South Korean carmaker, has made its public debut in India at the Auto Expo 2020. The FCEV SUV was first showcased at the 2018 India-Korea Business Summit in New Delhi. In December 2019, the company started the feasibility study for the fuel cell electric vehicles hinting the India launch of the Nexo SUV.

Claimed to be “the ultimate eco-friendly mobility solution”, the Hyundai Nexo comes with a 95kW fuel cell powering an electric motor that’s good for 161bhp and 395Nm of torque. Hyundai’s technological flagship, the Nexo delivers a WLTP-certified range of 666km and offers a top speed of 177kmph. It can do 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds.
In global markets, the Hyundai Nexo FCEV SUV is offered with a suite of autonomous driving functions. Features such as a self parking function, new-generation blind spot monitor, highway driving assist and lane following assist are also on offer. Though, the India-spec model might miss out on some of these aforementioned features.
The SUV comes packed with two LCD screens that make a 12.3-inch display. The bride-type centre console with heightened position gives it a futuristic look. The seats have vegan leather and textile piping and the floor mats and headliners are made of eco-fibers made of cane sugar.
The Hyundai Nexo comes in two interior colour combinations – a single tone Meteor Blue and dual-tone Stone and Shell Grey.
The Hyundai Nexo carries raised SUV-ish silhouette and the brand’s signature cascading grille. Some of its design highlights include full LED DRLs, triangular headlamps, a floating roof, slim D-pillar, integrated flush door handles, triangular shaped rear window and long and prominent rear spoiler. In global markets, the Nexo FCEV is available in five paint schemes – Cocoon Silver, White Cream, Titanium Grey, Copper Metallic and Dusk Blue.
