2017 Hyundai i30 Officially Revealed; Global Debut At Paris Motor Show

Likely to be launched in late 2017, the new 2017 Hyundai i30 India will be powered by a 138bhp, 1.4L Petrol and 126bhp, 1.6L diesel engines.

September 8, 2016 – Hyundai, the Korean carmaker has unveiled the new generation 2017 Hyundai i30 ahead of its global debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Scheduled to be launched in European markets by the early next year, the premium hatchback could also make its way to Indian market. The new i30 is claimed to be very agile and responsive, and is the first Hyundai car to feature the new turbo charged petrol engine, the 1.4-litre T-GDI unit that produces 140PS.

Hyundai India had showcased the current generation i30 at the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2016. To be positioned above the Elite i20, the Hyundai i30 could be launched as a flagship offering in the hatchback category. It is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh. Scheduled to make its global debut at Paris Motor Show in October 2016, the new i30 will go on sale globally by early 2017. We expect the hatchback to be launched in India towards the end of 2017. To be positioned above the i20 hatchback, the new i30 premium hatchback is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The hatchback will come in both petrol and diesel fuel options.

The premium hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The gasoline version of the i30 will be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 138bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. The oil burner is likely to be a 1.6-litre CRDi unit that also powers the new Hyundai Elantra. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 126bhp and 220Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic unit.

The new model is based on evolved Hyundai’s Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, which we have already seen in the new Elantra sedan. The vehicle shares most of its styling elements with the new Hyundai Elantra sedan. Designed and developed in Europe, the new i30 features natural flowing lines, refined surfaces and a sculpted body. Upfront is a hexagonal grille – called a cascading grille – with thick chrome surround, flanked by swept-back headlamps, and LED daytime running lamps integrated into the bumper. At the back, the hatchback gets new bumper, horizontal split taillamps with LED inserts and spoiler.

The cabin of the new i30 will be shared with the new Elantra sedan. It will get an all-new dashbaord featuring 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and new generation BlueLink telematics and connectivity. It also gets several high end features like Hyundai’s hands-free smart trunk release, dual-position seat memory and LED door handle approach lighting. Other features include push button, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, 60:40 split, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.
