Honda Mobilio MPV- A highly fuel efficient family car in India

Honda Mobilio MPV launching soon

With the growing demand for diesel cars in India, it is now important for car manufacturers to launch products with fuel efficient as well as powerful cars in the country. Japanese car maker Honda introduced its first diesel car- Amaze last year, which offers an excellent fuel economy of 25.8kmpl. Later, Honda launched the new generation Honda City, which is crowned as the country’s most fuel efficient car and it also became the segment leader within a short span of time. Now, the company is all set to launch its highly anticipated Mobilio MPV in July, this year.

Unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the Honda Mobilio is likely to be the country’s most fuel efficient MPV. Yes, the new MPV will be propelled by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that also powers the Amaze compact sedan and City sedan.  This engine, in City sedan, is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26kmpl. I firmly believe that this powertrain will make the upcoming Mobilio MPV the country’s most fuel efficient car. The new model will also be offered in petrol version which will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine.

The Honda Mobilio is basically a seven-seater MPV, which will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. The top spec model is likely to take on Toyota Innova. Based on the versatile Brio hatchback platform, the Mobilio measures around 4.4 metres in length making it more spacious than its closest competitor the Ertiga. With 185mm of ground clearance, it will be easier to drive this MPV through rugged Indian roads.
