In a bid to achieve aggressive pricing, the base variant in the carline comes bereft of driver side airbag, remote locking, ABS, power windows, height adjuster for driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, power-operated ORVMs, ConnectNext infotainment system and multi-functional steering wheel. The aforementioned features are however available from the XT trim, that sits above the entry level XE variant in the carline. If you are contemplating to opt for the XE trim, you will get the air conditioner, power steering, drive modes and LED tail-lamp as part of the standard kit.
With a stark price difference between rivals in the segment, Tigor definitely has a cusp over its closest competitors including Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Aspire.
The segment leader Maruti Swift Dzire is retailed between Rs 5.35 lakh to Rs 8.57 lakh for the top-spec AGS trim. Readying for generation change, it will be challenging for Dzire to undercut Tigor’s pricing.
Hyundai Xcent which is set for a mild facelift is currently available between Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 8.12 lakh. It will be interesting to see if Tigor’s competitive pricing will have any effect on Xcent’s pricing.
Another strong player in the segment, Honda Amaze range starts at Rs 5.52 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.44 lakh for the top spec diesel trim.
Volkswagen India’s explicit model for the Indian market, Ameo falls in the price band of Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh for the top-spec diesel DSG trim.
