Renault Kwid, the much-awaited hatchback from the French automaker has finally launched in India at Rs. 2.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Kwid that positioned below the Pulse, is the company’s first entry-level product for the Indian car market. The small car competes against the Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go and the Maruti Celerio. Here is a brief comparison among Renault Kwid, Datsun Go and the Maruti Celerio.

Renault Kwid Vs Datsun Go Vs Maruti Celerio – Specs
Powering the Datsun Go is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine, which is good for 67bhp and 104Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Celerio hatchback is propelled by a tried & tested 1.0-litre K-Series petrol motor that produces a maximum power of 67bhp and 90bhp of torque.
The Kwid hatchback, on the other side, is powered by a 0.8-litre (799cc) 3-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 53.2bhp of power and 72Nm of torque. Clearly, the Go hatchback is the most powerful car in its league. All three models are paired to a five-speed manual gearbox driving the power to front wheels. The Celerio also gets an AMT (Automated Manual transmission) gearbox.

Talking about styling, the Renault Kwid undoubtedly is the best-looking car in its segment. The small car features a crossover-like styling with a high ground clearance of 180mm. Though, the Go and the Celerio are close competitors in this department. The hatchback also features sweptback headlamps, dual-slat chrome grille, plastic cladding on sides, stylish fog lamps, rectangular-shaped black wheel arches, rear bumper with a black trim and body-coloured tailgate spoiler. It is equipped with various segment-first features such a 7-inches touch-screen, MediaNAV with navigation functions and radio and Bluetooth connectivity and a fully digital instrument cluster. Other features include manually-operated ORVMs, piano black centre console with a chrome-surround, etc.
The Celerio, on the other hand, gets all the elements of a small Suzuki hatchback. The front gets new design language featuring a curved twin-slat grille, flanked by angular shaped sweptback headlamps. The rear-end looks like a typical Maruti with tail-lamp identical to other Maruti Suzuki vehicles. Inside, the Celerio gets beige and black seat upholstery, Bluetooth enabled music system, electric ORVMs, foldable rear seats, etc. The vehicle has a boot capacity of 235-litres, which is more than sufficient to accommodate a couple of bags.
The Datsun Go hatchback gets a hexagonal grille with chrome inserts, sweptback headlamps, Micra-like side profile, black cladding on windows and black coloured ORVMs. At the rear, the hatchback sports vertically stacked light design, openable boot lid, and black cladding on lower bumper. On the inside, the hatchback gets dual-tone interiors with beige and grey trim, air-conditioning, AUX-in with two speakers, follow-me-home-headlamps, speed sensitive wipers, Jacquard seat upholstery, mobile docking station with amplifier and USB charger.
