Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan is one of the most awaited cars in the Indian car market in 2014. With the Ciaz sedan, the country’s largest car manufacturer is aiming to grab some market share in the populated mid-sized sedan segment. It will come as a replacement for aging SX4 saloon, and is claimed to be equipped with several high end comfort and convenience features.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The petrol version would be the 1.4-litre K series motor producing 91.72bhp while the oil burner is the Fiat-sourced 4-cylinder 1.3L multi-jet that develops 88.76bhp. Five speed manual transmission will come as standard, while the petrol will also get a CVT option.
Interestingly, the Fiat Linea gets the same 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel motor; however, the power output is slightly more than the Ciaz. It produces 92bhp, which is around 3bhp more. Moreover, the petrol Linea is a true enthusiast’s car with 112.44bhp of power on offer.
The Ford Fiesta saloon is only available with a diesel engine. Under the hood is the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder motor that develops 89.75bhp.
When it comes to dimensions, it is clearly visible that Fiat Linea is the longest in its league. With 4,596mm of length, the Linea is around 106mm longer than the Ciaz (4490mm). However, the wheelbase of the Ciaz sedan is slightly on higher side.
