Prices of the 2016 Maruti Alto 800 start from Rs 2.49 lakh for the base variant, and go all the way up to Rs 3.76 lakh for the top-end variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). The closing price of the new Alto 800 is relatively more competitive against the Renault Kwid and Datsun rediGo. These price figures also make the new model Rs 8,000 – Rs 11,000 more affordable than the old one. The new Alto 800 offers better style, features and fuel efficiency than before, and that too at the lower price.

The 2016 Maruti Alto 800 is claimed to be 9% more fuel efficient than the previous model. Powered by a 796cc petrol engine, the hatchback now offers a mileage of 24.7kmpl against 22.7kmpl of the old model. The CNG-powered variant is now 10% more frugal, and returns 33.44km/kg over 30.4km/kg of previous version. One must note that the engine and its power & torque figures remain unchanged.

The new Maruti Alto 800 carries a new Aero edge design that enhances its aesthetic appeal. The car gets revised headlamps, wider lower front grille and front fog lamps. No changes have been made to the rear and side profiles of the hatchback.

Inside, the new Alto 800 features newly-designed seat and door trim fabric and improved rear seat comfort with integrated headrest. The facelifted version, additionally, gets rear door child lock and remote keyless entry.

Dimensions of the new Maruti Alto 800 are slightly different than the old model. While the overall length of the hatchback has been increased by 35mm, the width is reduced by 25mm. The facelifted model measures 3,430mm in length and 1,490mm in width. Whereas the height and wheelbase remain unchanged at 1,475mm and 2,360mm respectively. Similar to its predecessor, the new Alto 800 has a ground clearance of 160mm.
