Toyota India’s two of the highest selling products, Fortuner and Innova witnessed generation change in 2016. Infused with new updates, both the models saw sea changes to the exterior, interior and equipment level. While these two cars stole limelight last year, the company started year 2017 with the launch of new Toyota Prius and the Toyota Camry hybrids.
In a bid to expand its product portfolio, the company is planning on venturing into new segments including the mid-size sedan segment, compact SUV segment etc. That said most of the models lined-up for launch in India are completely new cars save for the Corolla facelift. To give you a preview of upcoming Toyota cars in India, we have listed down some of the highly anticipated models set for launch in the coming months.
Known for its premium offerings, Toyota had been absent from the mid-size sedan segment in the domestic market. With Vios, Toyota eyes venturing into the highly contested segment which offers Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. It is to be noted that Vios is already available in some South East Asian markets. In India, the sedan has been caught testing several times, hinting at a close launch.
Power sources on the new Vios will include two units in petrol and diesel option. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will be capable of developing 107.5bhp and 141Nm of torque. Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
In terms of proportions, the upcoming sedan will measure 4,410mm in length, 1,700mm in width and 1,475mm in height. Wheelbase will estimate at 2,550mm inferring a spacious cabin. As for safety provisions, the sedan will equip dual front airbags and ABS. Styling and designing will resemble that of the Camry and Corolla sedans.
