Tata Motors is bullish on changing its image in the domestic market. In retrospect, there has been a paradigm shift in terms of designing and styling its cars. Unlike the old Tata cars, the new products are visually more appealing with well-equipped, modish interior and primary safety provisions. The company introduced its new IMPACT design philosophy last year which seems to be working well for it.
Tata Motors has rolled-out two new models based on its IMPACT design tenet, including the Tiago and Hexa. While Tiago has already carved a niche spot in the entry level B segment, Tata Hexa received 6000 pre-bookings with 1498 units delivered in January. As Tata looks at introducing more new models in future, we bring you a list of upcoming Tata cars in India slated for launch in next three years.
Making inroads into the subcompact sedan segment, Tigor is the third product from Tata in this space. Years ago, Tata launched Indigo eCS followed by the Zest sedan in 2014. While both the models failed to gain traction, Tata Motors has set high expectations with the upcoming model. In its line-up, Tigor will be positioned below Zest which implicates competitive pricing. Besides, Tigor is primarily a boot version of Tiago and will share mechanicals and design cues with the hatchback.
Traces of similarity will also be visible inside the cabin with identical styling and equipment. Despite measuring less than four meters, the sedan is expected to offer comfortable space inside. Even the luggage storage space will be nest-in-class at 420-litres. Coming to the mechanicals, Tigor will source power from the 83.8bhp 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 69.04bhp 1.05-litre turbocharged oil burner from the Tiago. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual unit along with the AMT gearbox.
