Hero Zir 150 Scooter to be Showcased at Auto Expo 2016

Hero Zir 150 scooter is equipped with several segment-first features such as LED DRLs, LED turn indicators and projector indicators.

The Hero Zir 150 scooter will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 that will be held in Greater Noida next week. The home-grown bikemaker will also display the Dare 125 scooter, HX250R sports bike and Super Splendor iSmart 125cc at the event. Though all the aforementioned products are important for the company, the Zir, being Hero’s first ever 150cc scooter, is a special product.

For the people in the know, the Zir scooter was first unveiled in 2014 at the Delhi Motor Show. This premium scooter will be made available with two styling packages – the European-style and a flat footboard. It will also come with several segment-first features such as LED daytime running lights, LED turn indicators and projector indicators. Upon its launch in the country, the Hero Zir 150 scooter will take on the Honda PCX 150.

Hero Zire 150 Launch Date

Hero’s first 150cc scooter will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 next week. Though there is no official confirmation about the launch date of the vehicle, it is expected to arrive by mid of this year.

With premium styling, lots of segment-first features and efficient engine, the Zir is expected to be priced around Rs. 75,000 – Rs. 80,000 (ex-showroom).

Styling & Features

The Hero Zir 150 scooter looks quite sporty with features like dual projector lamps, LED indicators, daytime running lamps, all-digital instrument cluster, phone charging dock and new alloy wheels. While the European-style variant gets a swept back screen, the standard model comes with a more upright screen mounted on the handlebar. Though, the screen of latter one looks conventional and less sporty compared to the Euro-style model.

The brake callipers are painted to complement the body colour. Its electronic fuel injection can be connected to smartphones to check engine and riding information through an application. Other noteworthy features include multi information display, petal disc brakes, step seat, etc. The overall length, width and height of the vehicle measure 2,085mm, 745mm and 1,385mm respectively. It carries a kerb weight of 139kgs, and offers a fuel take capacity of 9-litres.

Engine & Transmission

Powering the scooter is a 157cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve unit that produces a maximum power output of 13.9bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 12.7Nm at 7,000rpm. It is capable to hit a top speed of 110kmph.

Suspension & Braking System

This automatic scooter comes with integrated hydraulic braking system (IHBS), coupled with 225mm front and 220mm rear petal-type disc brakes. It is also equipped with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers upfront and adjustable dual-shock absorbers suspension at the rear.
