Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Grand Vitara mid-size SUV that seems like a more premium version of the new-gen Brezza. Both the SUVs have so much in common, yet they are distinct and positioned differently.
So here, we have compared the two sibling SUVs in detail so that you can decide which SUV will be more suitable for you. Also See – Grand Vitara Vs Hyryder Vs City e:HEV – Hybrid Cars
Let’s start with the design & dimensions: –
Brezza | Grand Vitara | |
Length | 3995mm | 4345mm |
Width | 1790mm | 1795mm |
Height | 1685mm | 1645mm |
Wheelbase | 2500mm | 2600mm |
Ground Clearance | 200mm | 210mm |
Boot Space | 328 litres | 355 litres (255-litres in Hybrid model) |
Wheel Size | 16-inch | 17-inch |
- The Maruti Suzuki Brezza falls under the sub-4-meter category, whereas the Grand Vitara is 4.3m long. However, it is 40mm taller, and its width is merely 5mm less than its elder sibling.
– With its larger wheelbase, the Grand Vitara offers more cabin space than the Brezza. However, there’s a lack of headroom for taller passengers.
- The boot space of the Grand Vitara is even smaller than Brezza’s key rival Kia Sonet (390 litres), which will further decrease by 100 litres if you opt for its strong-hybrid version. That’s because of the placement of its battery pack inside the boot.
- Design-wise, both SUVs look pretty appealing. Its blacked-out grille and dual-tone bumper give the Brezza an air of boldness, while the Grand Vitara exudes premium appeal.
- Inside, the Grand Vitara shares many parts with the new Brezza, like the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heads-up display, steering wheel, climate control panel, mild-hybrid variant’s instrument cluster, and much more. But still, the Grand Vitara feels more upmarket thanks to the superior material quality and leatherette padding on the dashboard and door trims.

- The two SUVs share the same mild-hybrid petrol engine and transmission options. But shockingly, the Brezza offers less fuel efficiency than the Grand Vitara despite being smaller and lighter in weight.
- This engine is well-suited for city commutes and highway cruising. However, there’s a lack of punch. In its manual guise, this also comes with the segment’s first AllGrip Select All-Wheel-Drive system in the Grand Vitara, making it more capable than its younger sibling.

For the price premium of around Rs 2.96 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara seems a good option to upgrade from Brezza as you’ll get more sophisticated styling, better quality levels, more cabin space, and a few more features that will indeed up your overall experience. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara’s strong hybrid version offers better performance and significantly better fuel efficiency; however, the boot space is compromised.
