We reported earlier that Volkswagen is contemplating a Polo hatchback based crossover for the Brazilian market. To be positioned below the Tiguan, the crossover will rival against the likes of Renault Captur, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke, Honda Vezel/HR-V and Hyundai ix25. WorldCarFans have released a speculative rendering of the Polo-based crossover.
A couple of months back, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neuser, board member for technical development at Volkswagen revealed that the company is working on smaller SUVs based on the VW Golf and Polo hatchbacks. The company currently has two SUVs- the Touareg and Tiguan in its global lineup. The company is aiming to capitalize on the growing popularity of B-segment SUVs and is planning to introduce a Polo-based high-riding model.
If reports are to be believed, the VW B-segment SUV will be based on the next generation Polo platform which is basically a shorter version of the MQB platform. The new SUV is expected to share its styling cues with the T-ROC concept. Rumours also suggest that the platform will also be used by Skoda and Seat to develop their B-Segment SUVs.
