Tata Motors To Launch 11 New Cars In 2017-2018

Upcoming Tata Cars

Tata Motors has been striving hard to keep up with changing Indian automobile market dynamics for quite a long time. The company lost its ground to other brands for solely focusing on functionality and leaving aesthetics aside. In order to regain its market share, the company launched several all new products in the last 2 years with the latest one being the Tata Tiago.

Launched at an aggressive price range, the Tata Tiago is already the company’s top-selling product and has given the company much needed boost. The homegrown carmaker plans to add more vehicles in its portfolio, thus offering buyers several options to choose from across different price ranges and categories.

Here’s a list of all the upcoming Tata cars in India that are expected to be rolled out in the next two-three years.

1. Tata Tigor Sedan

After successfully launching the new Hexa SUV, the homegrown automaker is all set to launch the much-awaited Tigor sub-compact sedan. To be positioned below the Zest, the sedan will go up against the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire and other cars in its league. First previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo as Kite 5 concept, the sub-compact car is based on the modified XO platform that also underpins the Tiago hatchback. It has been designed by Tata’s European Technical Centre (TMETC) team. Like the platform, the Tigor also shares its engine and design features with the Tiago. It will come as a replacement to the Indigo eCS, but it will be more robust and premium.

The cabin has been sourced from the sibling hatchback. It will be quite spacious from inside, and offer a best-in-class boot space of 420-litre. Power source for the Tigor will be the same – a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre turbocharged diesel – that also powers the Tiago. While the petrol mill produces power worth 83.8bhp against 114Nm of torque, the diesel mill offers 69.04bhp with 140Nm of torque. There will be a choice between a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.

Expected Price Rs 4 lakh – Rs 5.5 lakh
Expected Launch Early 2017
Engine Options 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol & 1.05-litre Revotorq Diesel
