Upcoming Mahindra SUVs in India in 2015

Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading utility vehicle maker is aiming to launch a couple of all-new SUVs in the country this year. Adding to it, the company is also planning to add automatic transmissions to its two SUVs along with the XUV 500 facelift. Here is a list of Mahindra’s upcoming Utility Vehicles in the country in 2015.

Mahindra S101:

With S101 micro SUV, the homegrown automaker is aiming to target B+ segment hatchbacks. This micro SUV has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on India roads. It will be the cheapest SUV in the country and is expected to be priced very competitively at around Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom). With heavy localization, the homegrown automaker is aiming to attract budget conscious Indian buyers. This micro SUV will offer a seating capacity for six adults in 3+3 layout. This means, the front row seat will be bench type to accommodate three passengers including driver. It will be offered in two engine options- all-new 1.2L petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel unit.

Expected Launch- Mid-2015

Price- Rs. 4 to 6 lakh

Mahindra U301:

The Indian UV maker will also launch a sub-4 metre SUV, Codenamed as U301, this year. This SUV will be offered in both sub-4 metre and seven-seater form, and is likely to come as a replacement for the ageing Bolero. With sub-compact size, the company will target young enthusiasts of the country looking for rugged and sporty appeal. The U301 Bolero is expected to be powered by the 1.5-litre, twin turbo diesel engine that also powers the Quanto. It is also speculated that the four-wheel drive variant of the SUV could also make its way to market.

Expected Launch- Second half of 2015

Price- Rs. 6 to 8 lakh

Mahindra Quanto AMT:

At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Mahindra showcased the Quanto AMT. It will be the country’s first utility vehicle to feature AMT gearbox. It is equipped with an all-new 5-speed autoshift gearbox which has been developed in association with Ricardo. The company is also working on the next generation Quanto, but it would only come by 2016-17.

Mahindra Scorpio Automatic:

Mahindra has recently launched the new generation Scorpio SUV in the country, which has received an overwhelming response from buyers. This SUV is available in six variants, but all are in manual. In order to offer more options to its buyers, the company is now aiming to launch the automatic variant of the Scorpio. The Automatic variant will be top-of-the line variant in its lineup, and is expected to be priced around Rs. 1 lakh more than the current top-end variant.

Mahindra XUV 500 facelift

Mahindra XUV 500 is all set to get a mid-life facelift in the country. The updated XUV 500 gets subtle changes to exteriors such as new tail gate with chrome trim affixed on the top of liscencing plate, slightly tweaked front fascia, new set of alloys, etc. The interiors too expected to get some changes such as new upholstery, new infotainment system and others. Adding to it, the company is also expected to launch the automatic variant of the SUV. The automatic transmission will be coupled to a same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.
