Renault India is now selling diesel variants of the Pulse hatchback and Scala sedan at their respective petrol counterparts. This could be the move to improve its sales in the highly competitive market. Both the Pulse and the Scala have been slow sellers for the French automaker in the country.
The rebadged Nissan Micra is powered by a 1.5-litre K9K turbocharged engine that is good for 65bhp and 160Nm of torque, while the Scala diesel gets the same engine with a variable geometry turbocharger that develops 85PS of power and 200Nm of torque. This engine is known for giving excellent drivability and high fuel efficiency.
The Pulse RxL diesel is now priced at Rs. 5.19 lakh while the Scala RxL variant is tagged at Rs. 8.01 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. Moreover, the company is also offering 2 years of extended warranty and 4 years of free roadside assistance with these cars.The petrol versions of both Pulse and Scala are offered with 1.2L 3-cylinder and 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol units.
Renault India has recently significantly cut down the prices of its top-selling Duster SUV, which is facing tough competition from the newly introduced Scorpio. The entry-level 85PS RxL Duster SUV is now tagged at Rs. 9.29 lakh, while the top-end RxL AWD variant now cost Rs. 11.29 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. The company is offering 2 years extended warranty and 4 years of free roadside assistance with the Duster SUV.
