Fiat Punto Evo

Fiat, the Italian carmaker, is focusing more on volume products all across the globe. The company, reportedly, is working on the next generation Punto hatchback and Linea sedan, which is scheduled to make their global debuts in 2016-17.  The production of both models will commence at Fiat’s manufacturing unit in Turkey, 2016. In India, Fiat will launch the next-gen Linea and Punto hatch by the end of 2017. The current models will continue to sell for next 2-3 years until their replacement models comes in the Indian market.

It was speculated that the next-generation Fiat Punto and Linea will use the new 326 platform that also underpins the second-generation Palio. On the other hand, AutoNews reports that the next models will be based on the US Wide platform. The same platform will also underpin the 500L hatchback. Interestingly, few reports suggest that the five-door version of Fiat 500 could serve as a replacement for the Punto hatchback.

If media reports are to be believed, the next-generation Fiat Linea and Punto would use the turbocharging petrol and diesel units. The engine line-up will fit the strong emission norms standard across the globe. Moreover, the turbocharging units are expected to be fuel efficient to fulfill the demand for better fuel efficient vehicles. The next-gen models are expected to offer excellent ride quality.
