German automaker, Volkswagen seems aggressive with its strategies for the Indian car market. The company is aiming to launch a series of new cars in the country in next 2 years. VW is gearing up to launch the 2014 Vento facelift, which is equipped with new 1.5L turbo-diesel engine coupled to a DSG automatic transmission. Interestingly, there is no mass product from VW India’s stable coming next year. The company will launch three premium cars- New Passt, new Jetta and Beetle in 2015.

Volkswagen India phased out the current Passat and is set to launch the 2015 VW B8 Passat, which was unvelied earlier this year. The new Passat is slightly smaller in size compared to previous model; however, it is claimed to offer more space inside and is loaded with high end features. The new model will be locally assembled in the country and will be sold as a flagship model.

New 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

The German manufacturer will launch the facelifted Jetta in the Indian car market by early next year. The vehicle has already launched in the international markets and is based on the current PQ35 platform. It comes equipped with changes to both interiors and exteriors. The power options remain unchanged, but with higher outputs.

Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen is also planning to re-introduce the Beetle in the Indian car market. The new Beetle will be imported as a completely built unit and is likely to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh. Under the hood, it is likely to get the 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel motor that produces 140bhp and 320Nm of torque. [Also read- VW Plans for Indian market]

The company is also contemplating a compact SUV and a compact sedan for the Indian car market. The compact SUV could be the Taigun, but reports are coming that VW is working on a sub-4 metre SUV based on PQ25 platform. The sub-4 metre sedan would be based on the Polo saloon.
