New Toyota Innova, Etios and Liva to get automatic variants

Toyota Innova MPV

Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota will launch the next generation Innova MPV in the Indian car market in 2015-16. If media reports are to be believed, the next Innova will get diesel automatic variant. Moreover, the company is also planning to introduce automatic transmission on every car it sells in India, right from the Liva hatchback to the pricier Land Cruiser. Interestingly, the company will add automatic gearbox to the likes of Etios sedan and Liva hatchback.

The first product to gain automatic transmission would be the 2016 Innova, which will be followed by the budget cars including Etios sedan and Liva hatchback. Moreover, the company will also launch the next generation Fortuner which is also expected to get new 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota introduced the Etios siblings to mark presence in the budget segments of the country; however, both models failed to create any buzz among buyers. Reports suggest that the company is aiming to give facelifts to its Etios range along with automatic transmission to improve sales.  Interestingly, the Japanese maker is also contemplating a mid-sized sedan, reportedly Vios, to be positioned above the Etios sedan. This sedan will rival against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
